NHS England , Head of Safeguarding
Susan Warburton MSc, RGN, is currently working as the Head of Safeguarding in NHS England. Having qualified as a registered nurse in 1985, she has spent the last 32 years working within the NHS in both provider and commissioner roles. In 2008, she obtained an MSc in Health and Social Care Management at Manchester Metropolitan University.
She joined NHS England in 2013, as the Deputy Director of Nursing where she had responsibilities for a range of programmes including safeguarding. As part of her safeguarding role she developed her interest in countering violent extremism and led the NHS England response to Prevent, chairing the National Prevent Sub Group. She has recently taken the post of Head of Safeguarding and is committed to providing the leadership that will ensure that the NHS adapts and responds to national and global safeguarding issues.
